The ITF and Kosmos Tennis have announced that Italy and Spain will receive wild cards for the 2023 Davis Cup Finals. Italy and Spain will join 2022 finalists Australia and Canada in the group stage of the 2023 Finals in the week starting September 11.
The wild cards are chosen by the Davis Cup steering committeeconsisting of two ITF members and two Kosmos Tennis members.
A total of 24 nations will compete in the 2023 Davis Cup, the remaining 12 nations that finished 3-16 this year and the 12 winners of the World Group I qualifiers.
The draw for the 2023 playoffs will take place this Sunday, before the end of the competition.
The 12 qualifiers will be played between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th February. Each tie consists of two singles matches on the first day, and one doubles match followed by two singles matches on the second day.
