The final stage of the Tour de France 2024a individual time trial, starting in Monaco and arriving in Nice, organizers announced Saturday. It was the first time the Tour had ended in an individual time trial since Laurent Fignon’s very close loss to Greg Lemond in 1989.
Two days after it was announced that the ‘Grande Boucle’ will end in Nice and therefore somewhere other than Paris for the first time since 1905 on the occasion of the Olympic Games to be held in the French capital this summer, the city is also known to exit this final stage. It will take place on Sunday, July 21. The Tour Director, Christian Prudhommeit was announced this Saturday along with Prince Albert II of Monacowithout giving details about the route or length of the stage.
The Principality, home to many of the stars of the peloton, such as the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, hosted the Grand Start in 2009. It is now an individual time trial with a start and finish line in Monaco. The Swiss Fabian Cancellara won and wore the first yellow jersey of that edition.
