The Lyon Olympics (OL) an additional term was given for the sale of the club with the consortium eagle football Controlled by john textorbecause he considers that there is “progress” in the operation with the guarantees given to him by the American billionaire.
In a statement published this Thursday, OL states that “based on the statements and firm guarantees of Eagle Football and John Textor, the sellers and the company consider that, in view of the progress made, there is a reasonable possibility that the closure of the operation will be done quickly.”
The French club, which has not yet set any specific date, gave the American businessman two days last Monday to close the transaction agreed at the end of June, worth around 800 million euros. A transaction providing that Eagle Football will buy 39.2 million OL shares at a price of 3 euros and 789,824 bonds at 265.57 euros each.
That’s all the shares and half of the convertible bonds held by de Holnest, the company of historical owner Jean-Michel Aulas (27.7% of the capital), as well as all of Pathé (19.3%) and the Chinese investment fund IDG Capitals (19.8%).
In the OL statement, Textor said Eagle Football secured “all necessary financing” as of Nov. 17 and also has financing safely available to proceed with a partial debt repayment.
Optimism in the immediacy of the operation
In addition, he expressed his confidence in obtaining “agreement in principle by all parties” for the necessary contribution to Eagle Football from his “various participation in football clubs in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Belgium.” In particular, it hopes to get them “in a short time, so that all the conditions for carrying out the operation are satisfied.”
“We are – concluded Textor – more than enthusiastic about the prospect of being fully involved in the development of Olympique Lyonnais under the force of its president, Jean-Michel Aulas, and his team.”
OL titles, whose listing was suspended from November 17 to December 6, when they lost 12%, amid doubts about the completion of the sale, rose more than 20% this morning after information about a new term.
