Two months after its celebration, the 33rd eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon, which will be held in the Catalan capital on February 19, reached the number of 10,000 registered and as such, it is expected that more than 13,500 runners will participate in the 2022 edition.
The records of the last edition and the registration rate for the next seem to indicate that the Barcelona race is heading towards a gradual recovery of its pre-pandemic participation levels.
And it is that in 2019 more than 20,000 registrations have been exceeded and in 2020 it is very close to breaking the record of 23,000 registered achieved in 2010if not for the cancellation of the exam due to Covid-19.
The EDreams Barcelona Half Marathon 2023 will once again be one of the five half marathons on the National Running Circuit, as well as one of the most international 21,097 kilometer races in Europe.
Having a fast and flat circuit allows new records to be achieved, currently held by the Ethiopian Haftu Teklu since 2022 in the male category (59:06) and the Kenyan Florence Kiplagat since 2015 in the female category (1h.05:09).
In addition, the one in Barcelona is one of only three Gold Label European half marathonssuch as Valencia and Copenhagen in Denmark.
In fact, the event in Barcelona already has this quality label since 2018 and is one of 11 half marathons worldwide that will have this distinction in 2023.
