Andrea Stella, McLaren’s new ‘main team’

McLaren announced on Tuesday that Andrea Stella has moved from chief executive racing officer to F1 team principal with immediate effect. This is the movement of the brand after the announcement of Andreas Seidl as the new CEO of Sauber.

Stella He has a great experience in F1. He has been a key member of the McLaren F1 team since 2015, where he has served as Head of Race Operations, Director of Performance and since 2019 as Executive Director of Racing. Andrea began his career with 15 years at Ferrari, including as a performance engineer for Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen (2002-2008) and then as a race engineer for Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso (2009-2015) . He has a BS in Aerospace Engineering and later completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, is happy about the team’s move. “I am delighted that Andrea Stella has taken over as Team Principal and lead our F1 technical and operational program. Andrea is a brilliant, experienced and respected member of our team with a strong record of leadership and success in Formula 1.” His move into this role is a great example of the deep strength we have in our team and I’m excited to work more closely with him with a joint focus on moving up the grid and winning races.”

Stella He was happy with his new role. “I feel privileged to take on the role of team manager and be part of this stage of the McLaren F1 team. I thank Zak and the shareholders for their trust in me,” he stressed. “We are realistic about the amount of work ahead of us to get back up on the grid, but I am excited and encouraged to be on this journey with a team full of talent., experience, career spirit and dedication. I look forward to working closely with each of them, Lando and Oscar, to achieve great success together and enjoy the journey.”
