Griezmann or Mbappe? French is clear

Despite many players affected by the virus and repeated injuries, the French are mostly optimistic about victory over Argentina and lifting their third World Cup, the second in a row.

According to the OpinionWay poll conducted on December 15 and 16 and published this Saturday by le parisien, 56% of the French (occasional or frequent fans) believe that the victory will probably fall on the French side, while 21% are absolutely sure that it will happen. 17% believe France is unlikely to win and 5% are convinced it will never happen.

In the same poll, France fans chose the international who has marked them so far at the World Cup: Atlético de Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, who surprisingly beat Les Bleus star Kylian Mbappé.

According to the poll, 31% of those questioned chose Griezmann -praised for his defensive effort-, 20% Mbappé and 19% Olivier Giroud. In fourth place is the meta Hugo Lloris (9%).

As the president of the country, Emmanuel Macronthe French are also mostly in favor of the coach continuing Didier Deschampswhose contract expires this year: 80% want it that way.

Meanwhile, France fans are preparing to watch their fourth final in 24 years. Although at the start of the tournament 54% said they were in favor of boycotting and not watching any World Cup matches in Qatar due to workers killed at the tournament’s construction sites and the plight of the LGTBI collective, an estimated 19% something has been corrected.

The semifinal against Morocco attracted 20.7 million viewers to channel TF1, about 66% of those who watch television. This is an audience record for a World Cup since 2006.

Although many large French cities maintain their intention not to broadcast matches on giant screens as a form of boycott and this includes the municipalities of Paris, Marseille and Lyon, others backtrack and project the final. Among them, the city of Toulon (about 170,000 inhabitants), which will install two giant screens and a fan zone.
