The thing in between Andre Onana and the choice of Cameroon has opened a new and definitive chapter since the player announced his retirement from international football after what happened during the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
The goal, only 26 years old, was expelled from the African team in the group stage after the fight with Rigobert Song, the coach, after showing the goalkeeper his dissatisfaction with the style of play. But every story, no matter how beautiful it is, has an end. And my story with the Cameroonian team has come to an end.
Players come and go, names are fleeting, but Cameroon is before any man or player. Cameroon continues forever and so does my love for the national team and for our people who always support us no matter how difficult the moment.
My feelings will never change. My Cameroonian heart will continue to beat and wherever I go I will always fight to raise the Cameroonian flag as high as possible.
I will continue to support as a fan, as more than 27 million Cameroonians do at every game. I can only thank everyone who trusted me and believed that I could add and contribute to this team.”
