“Txetxu Rojo is the ‘One Club Man’ par excellence”

Date:

Jon Uriarte, president of Athletic Club, believes that Txetxu Rojo, the legendary former soccer player who died on Friday, “was the ‘One Club Man’ par excellence” as reflected in the 541 games he played in his 17 seasons with the rojiblanco team, they are all his professional career.

“A legend is leaving us, an example for everyone. It represents the feeling of belonging that we want to instill in the youngest members of our club,” Uriarte emphasized in a message published this Monday on the official channels of the Bilbao entity.

The president pointed out that the club is “working to pay the best tribute” to Rojo starting this Tuesday, with the funeral to be held from 7:00 pm in the Basilica of Begoña.

In addition, rojiblanco first team players will wear black armbands as a sign of mourning during Thursday’s league game at Benito Villamarín against Real Betis and before the next clash at San Mamés, on January 9 against Osasuna, will be allocated a minute of applause

“At Txetxu’s request, there will be no minute of silence because it is something that saddens him. Instead we will do a minute of applause. It is a sign of gratitude on his part for all the clubs and the Athletic fans”.
