“I don’t have the level to play for PSG”

Date:

Javier Pastorethe Argentine midfielder who closed his gray spell at Elche yesterday, admitted that in 2018 he decided not to extend his contract with PSG and left because it felt like being pulled. He believes that his level is no longer up to the limitless ambitions of the Parisian team.

This is how he explained to ‘OhMyGoal’: “It’s very difficult, yes, because I don’t want to leave. My heart tells me: ‘we’ll last five years and I’ll finish my career here. It’s a footballer’s dream, to play there for twelve or fifteen years and be able to play with Messi and Mbappé, train with them and be able to tell my children about it afterwards. That would have been the best gift, but it seems unfair to me. I don’t have the level for Paris Saint-Germain” .

Recruited by Palermo in 2011, Pastore was bought for 42 million euros, a record at the time. He is only 22 years old. He would leave after seven years burdened by constant injuries. “For me it was the right time, I don’t want to be stubborn, but it’s also complicated because the president (Al-Khelaïfi) doesn’t want to fire me,” he continues explaining about his farewell. “I remember it very well. He told me: ‘but no, you’ll see, everything is going to change, we will see a doctor for your injuries.’ “PSG has given me a lot on all levels, personal, sporting and financial,” he acknowledges.
