Four technicians were suspended for sexual harassment

Date:

There are already four coaches banned for life. That’s the result of a 14-month independent investigation into emotional abuse Y sexual harassment in the women’s soccer leagueNWSL) and which is commissioned by the United States Soccer Federation.

The investigation was conducted as a result of scandals in the American women’s league. It was after former league players Sinead Farrelly and Mana Shim filed allegations of sexual coercion and harassment early in their careers under coach Paul Riley that the league’s problems became known. Riley denied the allegations, but was fired by his club, the North Carolina Courage, and league commissioner Lisa Baird resigned.

But the problems were widespread and before the end of that season, five out of ten NWSL coaches resigned or were fired following the allegations. The investigation resulted in the lifetime bans of four coaches: Riley, Christy Holly, Rory Dames and Richie Burke. Seven other individuals also face suspensions or must admit wrongdoing and accept responsibility for inappropriate behavior before they can be re-employed by the NWSL.

The NWSL wrote on its website that its league organization was fined at least 1 million dollars (more than 1 million euros) and must undergo a thorough business review.
