“Oh, we love to promote people…”

Date:

Xavier ‘Chicharito Hernandez He showed his doubts on Tuesday about the current opinion that maintains that the next coach of Tri, after the failure in Qatar 2022 of the Argentine ‘Tata’ Martino, should be a Mexican coach.

“Oh, how we love handling a narrative and promoting people… Look, I’ve been a foreigner in a country for 15 years and I wouldn’t like it if they didn’t give me the opportunity to get a job because I’m a foreigner. Here I am a foreigner in the US .UU and I see how they consider me”, affirmed the forward at MLS’s ‘Media Day’.

“Of course I’m in favor of Mexicans and talented people. But here the best thing for us is someone who comes and helps, who can add, regardless of nationality,” he added.

The forward reinforced his arguments citing successful examples in the selection of Mexican and non-Mexican coaches. “In 2006 we loved the process and it was an Argentine coach (Ricardo La Volpe), in 2014 it was a Mexican coach (Miguel ‘el Piojo’ Herrera) and we loved everything that happened in that World Cup. Enough of these novels, I think we need to unite, Mexican or not,” he reflected.

Chicharito’s opinion comes hours after his compatriot Alan Pulido, from Sporting Kansas City, clearly bet on a name for the bench of the Mexican team. “If I had to choose one (…), ‘el Piojo’ I think he is a perfect coach. Besides being a Mexican, he can do things very well. Already has experience in the World Cup, with the title that he has at a national level professional in his career, I think it will be very useful for the national team”, said Pulido.
