Pau Capell will be looking for a new victory in Transgrancanaria

Date:

Catalan athlete Pau Capell will participate for another year in the Transgrancanaria SWE, a test in which he already has four wins and will be held from February 22 to 26 in Gran Canaria.

“I came back wanting to fight as much as possible”, the runner highlighted this Thursday in a statement from the organization of the sports event, where Capell hopes to add a fifth victory that would be “great” at the start of this 2023.

The 31-year-old Catalan athlete achieved four consecutive victories in the Classic modality of the Transgrancanaria, in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, as well as one in the Advanced in 2015. An injury prevented him from participating in the 2021 edition and , on his return to the test in 2022, he achieved second place, behind Pablo Villa from León.

“For me, each Transgrancanaria has been special for some reason. Last year was the return after being injured for many months. And this year will be a confirmation that everything is fine, that we will do everything,” the North Face team rider explained in the note.

Capell assured that he will again participate in the 128-kilometer race “without a specific goal.” “In a long-distance race, you have to go through the stages, complete the refreshments and get to Maspalomas with maximum energy and a guarantee of having a good job”, he detailed.

In addition to the victories harvested in the various editions of Transgrancanaria, the Catalan athlete has victories in UTMB and TDS in France, Patagonia Run in Argentina, Mozart 100 in Austria and Eiger Ultra-Trail in Switzerland.

The Transgrancanaria SWE 2023, scoring for the Spartan Trail World Championship, will be held from February 22 to 26, 2023 on many trails on the island of Gran Canaria.
