Lauren Davis, Hobart Tournament Champion

Date:

the American Lauren Davis won her second WTA title six years after the first (Auckland 2017), by defeating the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the final of the Hobart (Australia) tournament by 7-6 (0) and 6-2 in 1 hour and 48 minutes.

});

In the first 12 games of the final, parity was complete, with neither player managing to break the opponent’s service turn. But in the tiebreaker everything changed. Cocciaretto didn’t get a single point in the ‘tie break’ and that definitely changed the game.

After scoring the first set, Davis was 5-0 in her favor in the second and dropped the racket, allowing the Italian to make it two games in a row. But the American pressed lightly and scored a win on his rival’s serve without major complications.

Davis, 29, did not lose a set in Hobart, where he had to play qualifying.
