First day of testing for Carlos Sainz at Fiorano. The Madrid driver rolled this Wednesday at the Italian track in the second day of practice for the Ferrari team after the test conducted on Tuesday by Robert Shwartzman.
Sainz rode the 2021 car, the SF21, because by regulation they could not use the car of the past. The purpose of these sessions is for the pilots to recover the sensations after several weeks of work in the simulator.
And it was that the new car is not shown until next February 14the date on which the countdown begins for a season in which the Italian team hopes, finally, to finish its attack on a world champion title that it has not achieved since 2007 (drivers) and 2008 (constructors).
“I hope it will be a good year. It really started today, a great first day for the Sainz family. We also expect it to be a good year for the rest of Sainz (himself) and for Ferrari”, declared the driver from Madrid last Dakar.
“Of course I have spoken to Fred (Vasseur, new boss of Ferrari). And the 2023 car, yes, I saw it. I’ve been following this for months. There is very little left, very little left for the season. Is the season right? Yes, yes, but I don’t say what I think until I see the other cars on the track,” he added to the press, when asked by ‘Sky Sport Italia’.
