Ten Hag: “Sancho’s future is in his hands”

Date:

The technician of Manchester Utd, Erik Tenhagsaid the striker’s future Jadon Sancho is on his “own hands” after admitting the England international went through a difficult period before scoring again against Leeds United on Wednesday.

Sancho’s first goal since September earned United a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, after the home team trailed 0-2 until the 62nd minute. Sancho played for the second time after a long absence for his physical well-being and mentally, but he showed that he can still play an important role this season.

“I’m very happy that he’s (heading) in the right direction,” said Ten Hag. “I hope he can maintain his momentum and I’m sure it will strengthen and motivate him even more. He is a very talented footballer and if he can invest at the right levels he can be outstanding.”

“Now we have a team that can play in the opposite half, he likes that, he can play in tight areas. It’s in his own hands then, if he wants to, he can, and this team is great. Obviously he went through a difficult time, but I’m happy and I’m proud of what he’s done, so I’ll support him, the coaches and the team, but in the end he has to make a decision for himself.”
