Cantlay and Schauffele dominated the first day of the Zurich Classic

the Americans Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele dominated Thursday on the first day of the Zurich Classic in New Orleans (USA)the only tournament played in pairs on the PGA Tour.

Cantlay, number 4 in the world rankings, and Schauffele, ranked 12th, they closed out the first day with 59 strokes (-13), giving them an advantage over those immediately chasing them.as well as Americans Matthew NeSmith and Taylor Moore (-12).

Sergio García, who plays a team with Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, delivered a -6 cardseven strokes behind the leaders.

For their part, Rafa Cabrera Bello and Argentine Emiliano Grillo scored -7; Colombian Camilo Villegas, who competes with American Kyle Stanley, also scored -7; while the Chilean couple formed by Mito Pereira and Joaquín Niemann had to settle for -5.

Australians Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman, defending champions of the tournament, finished the first round with -7.

The American Scottie Scheffler, number 1 in the world and recent Augusta Masters winner, scored -8 with his compatriot Ryan Palmer.
