The footballer has been in prison since January 20 on charges of rape
The Barcelona court will decide tomorrow, after a visit, whether or not Dani Alves will be held in preventive detention until the trial takes place. The Brazilian footballer was convicted on January 20 of beating and raping a young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30, in the bathroom of some private rooms. The judge investigating the case, from Barcelona’s investigating judge number 15, decided to send him to prison when she saw signs of crime and because of the high risk of flight.
Ten days after his admission to Brians 2 prison, in Barcelona, the former Barça and Sevilla player’s lawyer appealed against the pre-trial detention order. All parties have filed charges against the footballer’s appeal. Alves is accused of assaulting and raping a 23-year-old girl at Sutton nightclub in the Catalan capital. The events took place on December 30. First he said that he did not know the victim, then that he ran into her in the local toilets and finally that there were relationships, but he agreed and that she was the one who did fellatio to him. The DNA testing dismantles this third version as it confirms that there was penetration, as the victim claims.
The girl has always maintained the same version since the beginning of the case. He assured that he followed the footballer without knowing that they went to the bathroom. Once inside, he stated that he had beaten and raped her.
