New feat of the eternal Andy Murray to return to the ATP final

Date:

The British andy murray saved five match points against the Czech Jiri Leheckawhich he won after two and a half hours and three sets, 6-0, 3-6 and 7-6(6), reaching the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Doha (Qatar).

The 35-year-old Scotsman, who is ranked 70th in the ATP rankings, is seeking his 47th title in Doha, which he will play against the winner of the semifinal between the Russians. Daniel Medvedev and the canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Murray managed to reach his first final in 2023. He has not fought for a title since he lost those in Stuttgart, in May 2022, and Sydney in January 2022. His last title was further away, in Antwerp, in 2019.

The British, once number one in the world, stuck to the competition as usual. He was on the ropes but he kept his temper and turned the situation around to return to a final in Doha as was the case in 2017, which he lost to Novak Djokovicand in 2007, surpassed by Croatian Ivan Ljubicic.

Murray, who has never played Lehecka, 52 in the ATP ranking and a revelation at the last Australian Open at 21, will have Medvedev or Auger-Aliassime as a rival.
