The British George Russell (Mercedes) regrets the hydraulic problem that complicated the afternoon session on the second day of the Formula 1 preseason in Bahrain and made sure they didn’t “unlock everything” on the car they’ll start competing in next week.
“Unfortunately, we had a hydraulic problem this afternoon and we were unable to complete our program, but we found some interesting things in the data. That is positive and we will look into it,” he said in a statement provided by his team.
Russell was thirteenth with a best time of 1’33.654 and did just 26 laps.
“We haven’t unlocked everything in W14 and everyone is working hard to do so and maximize our final day of testing tomorrow,” he said of Saturday’s session.
The next morning, the Mercedes was driven by his compatriot Lewis hamiltonwho clocked fifteenth time of the day with a 1:33.954 in 72 laps.
“It was a difficult morning. The bad temperature made it a challenge to overheat the tires as we often see here in Bahrain. However, we beat our race plan and it’s good to get that mileage. Everyone is working hard, staying focused and we’re rediscovering everything we can about the W14,” said the seven-time champion.
