Julen Lopetegui’s test against one of his former teams, Porto, is set for April 12 and 19, as reported by the Portuguese club in its first half results.
The dispute between the ‘dragons’ and Lopetegui began in 2020, when the Basque coach, now in charge of the English Wolverhampton, filed a case in the Porto Labor Court to demand a payment of 791,000 euros.
This figure corresponds to the labor credits obtained from adjustments to Lopetegui’s income statement in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016, the period in which he was in charge of Porto.
In the account report sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Porto said that this requirement “does not correspond to reality” and added that “which is prescribed by the credit demand.”
The case is not prescribed
However, the court disagreed with the prescription, so it convened a trial between the two.
Lopetegui, 56, spent two seasons at Porto, but bid farewell to Portugal without winning any trophies.
However, the current Wolverhampton coach has been key to signing Iker Casillas or Iván Marcano for Porto, who is still the starting centre-back.
