A day after losing 5-1 in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Benfica (who had already won 0-2 on Belgian soil), Scott Parker, coach of Bruges, was dismissed on Wednesday. The win in Da Luz ends a series of bad results despite the fact that the Belgian team previously achieved the success of reaching the Champions League round of 16.
Parker admitted after the 5-1 draw that he had many doubts over his future at Bruges. A few hours later, and in a brief statement, the Belgian club announced the dismissal of the English coach.
Scott Parker, a former England international, previously managed Fulham and Bournemouth. In Bruges he relieved Carl Hoefkens. Under his orders, the Belgian team won only 2 games out of 12. They are currently 4th in the Belgian League, 41 points behind the leader, Genk.
