The Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed this Friday the two-match ban imposed on José Mourinho, coach of Roma and facing the referee in the match against Cremonese. Out of anger, the ‘giallorosso’ club will maintain a law of silence in all its estates during these next two matches.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, after confirming the said punishment, Mourinho will miss this Sunday’s match against Sassuolo and the derby against Lazio on March 19, both Serie A matches.
The Court, which revoked the sentence on Saturday while waiting to collect the necessary information for the investigation (which allowed the Portuguese to take part in the match against Juventus1-0 for Roma), Mourinho’s appeal was finally rejected on Friday.
Mourinho was sent off on February 28 in a match against Cremonese after a run-in with the fourth official which, according to the coach, the referee tackled him in an “unfair” manner. The main referee, Marco Piccinini, showed the Portuguese coach a red card.
The Serie A Sports Judge handed Mourinho two games and a fine of 10,000 euros, but Rome appealed the penalty. He was rejected and the ‘gialorossso’ club commissioned the so-called ‘silenzio stampa’, no one would give statements until two games had passed.
