The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve hosts this Saturday the first of two test dayst where the curtain will officially come down on the MotoGP pre-season, waiting for it to rise again in 15 days for the first GP of the campaign at the same Portimao circuit. And when this first day reaches its halfway point and three and a half hours of practice remain nothing new under the sun that shines in the Portuguese Algarve: the top 4 in the standings go to Ducati riders led by Luca Marini, the fastest in the previous test at Sepang ahead of Bagnaia, Di Giannantonio and Jorge Martín. Six Ducatis temporarily entered the top-10, which they only allowed to the Aprilia of Maverick Viñales, 5th, Miguel Oliveira, 8th and Aleix Espargaró 9th, and the Yamaha of Fabio Quartararo, 10th.
Good timing in this test, which is important, especially for Honda, which is currently not in the top-10. Alex Rins was twelfth at 0″475, Joan Mir was fourteenth at 0″603, ahead of his teammate Marc Márquez, at 0″622 and Taka Nakagami closed the table, 24th, at 1″837. It is clear that the two MotoGP champions represented by Repsol Honda this year, Marc Márquez and Joan Mir, will go to one as they both have two identical bikes in the garage, one with the fairing seen in the Sepang test and one new. .
Despite the well-known dominance of Ducati in that top-4 by less than a tenth, one of the significant notes of the morning was that the best top speed was recorded by Aprilia with Aleix Espargaró at 338 km/h for 336.5 km /h of Miguel Oliveira.
