Joselu: “The team gave everything they had”

Date:

Joselu Mato is one of the names of the match that Espanyol played and lost this Saturday against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. The pichichi parakeet scored a great goal in the 8th minute, a fair reward for the good start of a Spanish team that surprised eleven merengues at the start. Despite the defeat, ‘9’ was satisfied with the image and line his team showed in Madrid.

“We know it’s very difficult. We started well. Bratihwaite had a clear chance and then we continued, but it was very difficult to score points here. Also, Real Madrid is a team that does not forgive anything in front. We were in the game until the last minutes. The team was tired and gave everything we had,” Joselu acknowledged at the end of the match to the Movistar LaLiga microphones.

The striker is pushing to keep the line that his team showed today at the Bernabéu, remembering that he was alive until the last minutes when he received the third. “We didn’t play a good game last week, but the idea is to continue on the line today. We came out very deep, trying to stop Real Madrid from playing. We created difficulties for the opponent because there were times when they could just play for a long time We tried until the end and we had to stay there”.

Finally, Joselu, who scored his 12th goal today and is the top national scorer, admits that he dreams of one day joining the Spanish team. “I think I have a percentage chance of being there because I am among the top national scorers. It would be a dream for me,” he confessed.
