Badosa celebrates a new milestone in his career: "Monday has never felt so good"

Date:

Paula Badosa is still being launched. The Catalan player is, as of Monday, number 2 in the worlda victory that places him as one of the greatest players in the history of our tennis, with figures of the stature of Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, Conchita Martínez or Garbiñe Muguruza.

As worthy of the occasion, one from Begur wanted to share his happiness with his followers. “Never had a Monday been so delicious. Fun for the road traveled and traversed. It costs a lot but in the end, it’s all worth it. I am thankful that my dream came true“he wrote both on twitter and on Instagram.

PS: I don’t usually put rankings but this one made me especially excited“added a new number 2 in the world.

Only Swiatek leads Badosa, confirming his progress, his stability on the course, when he beat Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals in Stuttgart. He did not reach the final. She lost in the next section, against Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

Badosa went through 2022 with victory already in the Sydney tournament which adds to those in Belgrade and, more importantly, Indian Wells a course then. A semifinalist at Indian Wells, he reached the quarterfinals in Miami, Charleston and now Stuttgart. Merits that elevate it in rank.

He is the fourth Spaniard to become number two in the WTA rankings. Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and Garbiñe Muguruza, who became the first in the world, and Conchita Martínez, achieved this before in October 1995.

But Badosa is not satisfied and he is already thinking about his next challenge: the WTA Premier in Madrida tournament that starts this Thursday and in which he will try to overcome the semifinals achieved last year in what is his first great performance in a top-level event.
