King Felipe received this Tuesday at the Palacio de la Zarzuela a representation of CD Tenerife, led by its president, Paulino Rivero, who gave him a shirt with the name and number VI in Roman numerals, on the occasion of the centenary of club
The meeting was held in the Magnolias de la Zarzuela Room, where Don Felipe greeted all members of the delegation, which consisted of 40 people.
Besides Rivero, other members of the board of directors participated, the captains of the blue and white team, Aitor Sanz and Carlos Ruiz, as well as the women’s team, former players from different eras and workers at the club.
Rivero thanked the king for welcoming them to listen to the Zarzuela, which had been requested last year, when commemorating the centenary, with Don Felipe as the president of the honor committee, although due to reasons set the Royal could not be celebrated House.
As a thank you, they presented him with a personalized shirt with the name “Felipe” and the number “VI” and a centennial book, written by journalist Luis Padilla.
Among the former soccer players of CD Tenerife, are Alberto Molina, Toño Hernández, Felipe Miñambres and Suso Santana, as well as José Juan Gutiérrez and Juan Padrón, members of the team that achieved the first promotion to the First Division (1961) .
They also joined José Antonio Barrios, the first Olympic soccer player from the Canary Islands; Gerardo Movilla, former president of the Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE); Pier Luigi Cherubino, the last blue and white to play for the Spanish team, and Pablo Paz, a participant in qualifying for the UEFA Cup semi-finals (1997).
After the family photo with Felipe VI, they held a chat where they exchanged views on the current affairs of the club and its aspirations to be promoted to the First Division, the category in which it last played in 2009 /10 seasons.
