The Indian Wells Masters 1000 already has defined quarterfinals. Daniil Medvedev, despite a sprained ankle, reached the penultimate round for the first time, joined by another favorite, Carlos Alcaraz, who had no problem against Jack Draper.
The Spaniard will face number 10, Felix Auger-Aliassime, who saved six match points against Tommy Paul (19th) before winning 3-6, 6-3 and 7-6 (8/6).
For his part, Cameron Norrie did not save trying to beat last year’s semifinalist Andrey Rublev. Aggressive and sharp, the British (12th) won 6-2, 6-4 and will now face American Frances Tiafoe (16th).
Defender of the title Taylor Fritz (5th), was a little less quick in his 6-4, 6-3 victory over Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (84th). His next opponent is Italian Jannik Sinner (13th), who finished off Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka (100th) 6-1, 6-4.
