Fernando Alonso may be left without a podium Saudi Arabia. They gave him a 10-second penalty for his mechanic’s actions and, a few hours later, they overturned that penalty and put him back in the third position he had taken on the track. However, before he found out that the FIA would reverse its decision, he had a major mechanical blunder that could have cost him his podium.
Alonso pitted on lap 19 to serve a 5-second penalty and change tires. The Asturian had to remain stationary in his pit stop spot for those 5 seconds without any mechanics working on his car. But the one with the rear hydraulic jack did not measure correctly when positioning itself in place and slightly touching the car with said tool. That’s what paid him the penalty that Fernando seemed to lose the podium.
The Spaniard has already celebrated that victory in the drawer with all his sponsors and team members. And after learning of the sanction, upon arriving at the box, the first thing he did was hug the mechanic who made the mistake.as revealed by the special envoy of ‘DAZN F1’, Albert Fabrega.

});
“The first thing Alonso did when he got to the box after the podium was to go and give the Aston Martin rear jack mechanic a supportive hug”Albert Fàbrega pointed out on his Twitter.
Eventually the mechanic smiled after suffering. The FIA decided to reverse its decision and annul Alonso’s 10-second penalty because they could not consider that the jack press was a rule violation, as no one worked on the car, which prevented that rule. The mechanic was relieved and Alonso celebrated his 100th podium. Even so, Fernando had silenced the mechanic with his grand gesture before.
