The reason for the situation in which Gavi remains

Although Barça now have 20 days to appeal to the Provincial Court, enforcement from the League of returning the player to his previous status as a subsidiary footballer is imminent.

This condition is always defended by LaLiga in accordance with article 101 of the Preparation of Club Budgets. In it, it makes explicit reference to the fact that, when registering a player who is renewed during the season, the Squad Cost Limit is checked. Something that the employers clarified that the Barça club does not comply with: “In cases of contractual renewal of a Player in the Season, as a general rule, the registration of this Player will only be accepted by the contracted Club /SAD once the Validation Body assigns the Registered Sports Squad Cost Limit for the 134 next Season.

2. If the Player already has a contract in force for the next Season or Seasons, as a general rule, his registration for said contractual renewal will not be accepted until the Club/SAD receives the assignment of the Squad Cost Limit of the Organ of Validation for the next Season, and have a sufficient balance not to exceed the Limit of the assigned Sports Squad Expense.

3. As an additional requirement to the rules of section 1 and 2 above, the registration of the Player will not be allowed, even if the renewal does not imply an increase in the Fee, either in the Season for which the registration is requested or in the following one, in cases where the Club/SAD applying for registration exceeds its Sports Squad Expenditure Limit by more than 20% of the Business Figure.”
