Daniel Holgado (KTM), winner of the Moto3 race of Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimaoacknowledges that it has been “unbelievable, hard to express” because he was “too happy” and even “assimilated” it.
“I promise you that when I crossed the finish line I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been dreaming for a long time, since I was a kid watching races from the sofa supporting your favorite driver… And now I won this race; It’s special,” Holgado admitted.
Holgado suffered a disaster at the end of the race when he was hit from behind by Australian Joel Kelso. “He hit me in the back of a host that I almost fell off the bike. I don’t know if he’s okay, I hope. I turned around and I was sliding down, because I didn’t know if he was okay, now I was going to go to him, but I don’t know what happened, they gave the flag, we all cut and him. like it’s at full speed.”
“I got hit, but I’m fine, that’s the important thing, and I enjoyed that lap of honor,” insisted the KTM rider.
The race was “fun but very complicated, because the wind was quite strong against it, so it was impossible to break the group”. “I tried lap after lap, but it was very difficult.”
“The wind hit me and they caught the slipstream, so it was very difficult to escape, but I think I was the fastest this weekend and I showed it because when I was first I cut a second off the time of the others, so I’m happy about that. I think, in Argentina, we will do the same thing again and we will try to win,” said Holgado.
