Date:

the dutch Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) scored the hundredth victory of his career in Sardinian Grand Prixsecond exam of the queen category of Motocross World Championship (MXGP)after that the Spanish Jorge Prado (GasGas) continues as general leader.

Protected by two performances from less to more, Herlings, five-time world champion, won again a year later and took the test victory despite not achieving victory in either of the two sleeves, falling also Prado’s. Dutch Glenn Coldenhoff.

The rider from Lugo, who was fastest in qualifying on Saturday, won the opening race with authority, where he managed to manage his clear advantage to see the checkered flag ahead of Herlings and also Dutchman Calvin Vaanderen (Yamaha).

In the second, Prado couldn’t start on point. He had a more irregular performance, with certain errors and a slower pace that dropped him from fourth position to seventh, although he was eventually sixth after a fierce battle with Vlaanderen .

Up front, Coldenhoff went unchallenged and Herlings’ comeback found its reward in the final laps, where he overtook Frenchmen Romain Febvre and Maxime Renaux to win the Grand Prix held at Riola Sardo circuit.

Rubén Fernández Falls

Prado leads the World Championship overall with one hundred points after repeating his performance in the Argentine Grand Prix, the first round of the championship, and has a seven-point advantage over Herlings. Renaux and Febvre remain at 78.

Also the Spaniard Rubén Fernández (Honda), who won the Argentine test, was the victim of a fall in Sardinia. The man from Vigo had two mishaps in the first round and another in the second which prevented him from fighting for the top positions.

He had to retire in the first race and in the second he dropped to last place, but he had the courage to get back up and start his way back to eleventh place which earned him ten points to be seventh overall with 63.

In MX2, Belgian Jago Geerts (Yamaha) scored the qualifying match with Dutchman Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna), as they both shared victories, and Spanish Oriol Oliver was tenth.

Geerts clearly dominates the overall standings with 117 points, De Wolf 87, while fellow Spaniard Yago Martínez is thirteenth with 25, four more than Oliver.

The third round of the World Championship, the Swiss Grand Prix, will be held on April 10 at the Frauenfeld circuit.
