Girona, epicenter of racket at the female level with three tournaments


The Girona demarcation will be the center of Catalan and national women’s tennis in the months of May and June. Three international women’s tennis tournaments will be held consecutively: two ITF and one WTA. Spectators will enjoy world-renowned players and some of the best players in our country.

This Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona circuit will open with the second edition of the ITF Pola Giverola in Tossa de Mar between May 1 and 7. Consecutively, between the 8th and 14th, the fourth edition of ITF Platja d’Aro 365. Finally, it’s the turn of the Solgironès International Women’s Open of La Bisbal (June 6-11), which is consolidated. as the most important tournament in Catalonia by being a WTA 125.

The three were presented this Tuesday in the Josep Irla room of the Generalitat de Catalunya, in Girona, with the participation of Anna Julià, head of the Territorial Representation of l’Esport Girona, Joan Fàbrega, representative of the Provincial Council of Girona; Jordi Tamayo, president of the Catalan Tennis Federation; Joan Querol, general secretary of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation; Joan Manel Loureiro, president of the Baix Empordà Regional Council; Pedro Torres, councilor of Castell-Platja d’Aro Town Hall; Ramon Gascon, mayor of Tossa de Mar; Enric Marquès, mayor of La Bisbal d’Empordà; Josep Maria Tura, president of the Tennis d’Aro Club; Jordi Avellí, president of the Pola Giverola club in Tossa de Mar and Xavier Ponsatí, president of Club Esportiu CT La Bisbal.
