The town of Montijo became the nerve center of Barcelona fans in Extremadura on Saturday with celebration of the XII Meeting of Peñas Extremadura of FC Barcelona. The event, organized by the Federation of Extremeñas Barcelonista Supporters Clubs and the Montijo Barcelonista Supporters Club, which celebrated its 42nd anniversary, was attended by representatives of 45 supporters clubs from this territory, with two more arriving from Castilla -La Mancha. In total, more than 260 peñistas gathered for a full day of events.
Visits and exhibitions
The starting signal was given by the Assembly of the Federation of Peñas Extremeñas, led by its president Miguel Angel Cruz, where the current situation of the entity and the balance of accounts were reviewed, in addition to discussing the current projects of World Confederation of Penyes.
Next, there was an institutional reception at the Montijo Town Hall, with Antonio Escudero, social vice-president of FC Barcelona, and Ricardo Serna, a former Barça player. The procession was welcomed by the mayor of Montijo, Manuel Gómez.
One of the most emotional moments was visiting the exhibition of historic FC Barcelona shirt organized by journalist José Luis Vela for the occasion. In total, more than 50 specimens were presented, all of which have a special meaning.
The morning ended with a visit to the headquarters of PB Montijo and a famous restaurant, where there were other presidents of supporters club federations such as Rafael Pichardo (Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla), Daniel Peinado (Castilla-La Mancha), Salvador Cerviño (Galicia) and Pablo Asensio (Asturias and Cantabria).
