Following complaints, on February 25 of this year, the UCRIF established a police device around a sports event held in a municipality of Majorca and once the verifications are carried out, the administrative records are drawn when it is verified that they do not comply with the security measures established by the regulation, therefore, in agreement with the referees and those responsible for in the organization, it was decided to suspend the activity.
The National Police explained that after the initial investigations it was shown that one of the detainees, allegedly, occasionally hired athletes from third countries, especially from Nicaragua, that he paid for the trip to enter the Mallorca as tourists and stay in an irregular situation in Spain. ., giving them a place to live.
Subsequently, he organized boxing nights in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom, where the inmates allegedly received 3,000 to 5,000 euros per competition and from these amounts they gave the athletes 1,200 euros , from which costs were later deducted. in Majorca.
According to the investigation carried out by UCRIF, many falsifications were found in the documents presented to receive subsidies from the Balearic Government and the Consell de Mallorca, and it was also proven that many subsidized events would not take place.
The police team in charge of the case also confirmed that the accounting documentation provided by the Balearic Islands Boxing Federation to the General Directorate of Sports of the government of the autonomous community was forged.
According to testimonial statements from athletes and referees to UCRIF agents, members of this federation, allegedly, may have intentionally and fraudulently changed the outcome of matches and reported that if the fighters disagreed -according to their rules, they must waive travel allowances and expenses, or they are not summoned to fight.
In addition, and as indicated by the National Police in a note, it was proven that the detainees were allegedly sloppy in the electoral process for the election to the positions in the federation.
