155 riders started the National Superbike in Jerez

The first test of the season of the Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) will be held starting this Saturday and until Sunday at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto with 155 registered drivers.

In the main category, the current champion of the specialty, the Catalan Tito Rabat, returns to the MotoGP World Championship to compete in the MotoE category and will not defend his title.

The main candidates to succeed him are Óscar Gutiérrez from Barcelona, ​​​​​​Roman Ramos from Cantabria, Marc Alcoba from Tarragona, Naomichi Uramoto from Japan and Ivo Lopes from Portugal, the organization informed about this open event in which foreign pilots also participate.

Eric Fernández, Dani Valle, Dani Muñoz or Julián Giral are some of the pilots who started as favorites in Supersport NG.

The old Junior Superbike category has been renamed this year Supersport 300, which is the precursor to the same modality in the Superbike World Championship. In the last two years, Spanish champions Álvaro Díaz and Pepe Osuna have jumped to the World Championship of the discipline.

The two smallest ESBK categories are Moto 4 and PreMoto 3completion of the program in the ‘FIM E Handy’ discipline, for pilots suffering from certain physical disabilities.

The competition will begin on Saturday with official training sessions for all the sparring categories, with the first rounds starting at 1:00 pm

The remaining races will be held on Sunday.with six sleeves per day for a total of twelve scheduled for the weekend.
