Forced to change teams for sexual harassment

Date:

Charlie Corralforward of the Mexican women’s soccer team, is confident that the expulsion of Scarlett Camberos of Mexico because of sexist violence, show the country’s society and end the attacks that women receive every day.

“(Violence against women) is something you don’t want to experience. I believe and I want to believe that things will change. Things that are not right happen for a reason. This is a great opportunity for us as a society to change, support each other and let’s take care,” explained the Tuzas del Pachuca player in a press conference this Friday.

Mexican international Camberos, who is one of the figures in the local league, left the ranks of Águilas del América in March and signed for American Angel City FC due to the pressure of a man from last year. Despite the fact that his club gave him legal advice, Mexican law only allows a 36-hour house arrest for the subject, who hacked into the soccer player’s social networks and even followed him to his home.

Corral, 31, asked his colleagues to follow Camberos’ example and speak out when they suffer any of the attacks they experience in their daily lives in Mexico, a country where violence in Gender causes more than 10 femicides a day according to various organizations.

“As athletes we must be aware that it is everywhere and we must be careful, report something that is not right and protect each other,” added the former soccer player of Atlético del Madrid and top scorer with Levante in the 2017-2018 season.
