Pegula led 4-2 in the tiebreaker of the second set, after losing the first 7-5when the force of the rain forced the game to be interrupted, at the moment of its highest tension.

Minutes later, the WTA reported that play would not resume this Saturday, but the game should be finished this Sunday.

“After a necessary break”, the winner of that semifinal will face Jabeur in the final.

The Tunisian is waiting for a rival, after defeating Kasatkina in a double 7-5in a game that also had to be delayed by rain.

Jabeur came back from 1-4 down in the first set, before taking it to 7-5 without giving up serve again. He started the second set the same way, losing his serve, but was able to recover the break and secure his ticket to the final in an hour and 49 minutes of play.
