The female F1 Academy debuts at the Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya

He Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya is hosting the debut of F1 Academythe first exclusively women’s event officially promoted by Formula 1, completing two days of testing across the grid.

The category was launched in 2023 with a calendar of seven rounds, a total of five teams and three drivers for each of them.

With an international tour lined up in F1 for 2024, this first year will have a specific calendar where the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit will appear as the third qualifying event. The F1 Academy will meet at the 6 Hours of Barcelona-Espíritu de Montjuïc, which will take place on May 20 and 21.

The purpose of the newly created championship is to encourage female drivers on the F3 grid for years to come, as well as to inspire more young women to compete in motorsport at the highest level.

In this international showcase there are two Spanish pilots, Nerea Martí and Marta García. Both, after the suspension of the W Series, found another opportunity to promote national female talent in the motor world. EFE
