United sale, “a farce”

Date:

Disturbances continue with the sale of Manchester Utd. The process of transferring the club is becoming complicated and time is running against the candidates to buy it, because they cannot build a squad for next season.

Those who continue the race to get the set of Old Trafford they will enter the final stage, the third and final round of bidding announced for April 28.

The auction eliminates several bidders and holds almost a heads-up in between Jim Ratcliffeowner of INEOS, and the sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar’s representative in the bid. The English prefer to keep a part of United, while the Qatari will buy it in its entirety.

One of those who decided to leave the race to buy the Mancunian club was Thomas Zilliacus. The Finnish businessman left the auction angry with the Glazer family, who in his opinion were obstructing the operation. In fact, some are making sure it’s all a ploy to revalue the club and in reality they don’t want to sell it.

For all these reasons, Zilliacus assures that the United tender is “a farce”. “I refused to participate in the third round of tenders for United. The auction turns into a farce, that the Glazers don’t respect the club. The delays will make it very difficult for any new owner to build a winning team for next season.”
