Marc Cucurella is the target of criticism in England following Chilwell’s sending off in Chelsea’s defeat to real Madrid in the Champions League The English full-back saw a straight red card for bringing down Rodrygo in a clear marking action, although many point to the Spaniard as the man responsible for not capping the Madrid player’s career.
The harshest criticism was that of Jamie O’Hara, a former Tottenham player, who was lenient against Cucurella. “Cucurella is a disgrace, he absolutely killed Chelsea“, he tweeted on his personal account.
Jamier Carragher, also a critic
Jamie Carregher is less touching on CBS. “Look at Rodrygo’s body position here compared to (Marc) Cucurella. He’s on his way Cucurella’s body position has not yet changed to run backwards. Rodrygo is lightning fast so you can’t get in. Cucurella is not on top of him and he gives himself a few meters, which is good, but his problem is that he doesn’t react!
“When the ball went and Rodrygo turned, Cucurella was still standing. He didn’t change the rhythm of the game or understand what was going on in that game. For me, Cucurella is guilty, but Ben Chilwell is even more so. Don’t catch someone and give them a red card,” added Jamie Carragher.
