Felipe Orts and Janika Loiv won the Superprestigio MTB SISNET de Arguedas

Date:

The second test of the Superprestigio MTB SISNET led the championship in the population of argued, a town known in the cycling world for being the gateway to Bardenas Reales. In the UCI C1 category, this event has already started determining which bikers will compete for the overall championship. A sunny day accompanied the cyclists but strong winds made the day difficult.

In the men’s category, there will definitely be a change of leader since then david’s fields winner in Ancín, did not start with this marking. The race started without a clear favorite but the names were already known Pablo Rodríguez, Ismael Esteban, Cristofer Bosque, and Mario Costa. or the Spanish cyclocross champion, Philip Ortsthey should be in combat for the main squares.

The career began in a Felipe Orts (Burgos BH) quickly moved up to lead the race after the first lap. The test order in the first good selection was formed by a group of 4 bikers: Pablo Rodríguez (BH Coloma Team), Ismael Esteban (Logos Energía – BH), Frenchman Luca Grieco (Scott Creuse Oxygene) and Orts himself.

A one-on-one between Orts and Grieco will decide the test

Strong winds mean the race has a definite tactical component. Esteban was the first to fall, although he always stayed away from the top three. The next to leave the race leader was Pablo Rodríguez. The hand between Orts and Grieco will decide the test. The Spaniard was able to attack and enjoy while the French, not only could not follow Orts, but also began to give way for a long time, victim of cramps.

Orts achieved a brilliant victory, while Pablo Rodríguez came in 2nd after maintaining what little advantage he had. Ismael Esteban, 3rd in goal. Grieco dropped to 4th place late in the race.

“The circuit is quite technical, with some very difficult climbs. The truth is that I struggled a lot in all the laps, but with two laps to go I saw that the Frenchman was running a bit tight and I started him. He followed me but he saw that I was suffering too much and when I opened a few seconds he stayed. I thought the podium result was good, but I fought for the victory and I achieved it, I am very happy” explained a Felipe Orts who achieved his second victory in a UCI MTB event at the finish line.

Generally, the new leader becomes Portuguese Ricardo Marinheiro strictly followed by Ismael Esteban, defending champion. I think the fight for the general is between the two of them.

Janika Loiv dominates the girls

The women’s race was less exciting, with a Janika Loiv (KMC MTB Racing) who fulfilled his role as a favorite from the beginning. At the turn, he did nothing but increase his advantage, which at the finish line was estimated to be almost 4 minutes over the girl. Estibaliz Sagardoy (Saltoki-Conor) who also rode alone for most of the test in that second position. Blanca Valles (Pardinyes CC) has completed the podium of the day.

Natalia Fisherwith physical discomfort from a previous fall while training on the road, preferred to withdraw from the race.

“It was a very windy race, but I really liked the course. I saw that my legs were good and I did very well at the start. The crowd supported me a lot and I’m very happy that I achieved victory here” explained Janika Loiv at the finish line.

Loiv, with two victories in two trials, is the solid overall leader Super prestigious MTB SISNET.

The Superprestigio MTB SISNET will face the start of its second part in the 3rd test which will take place in Caparroso next May 21.
