Dorna made it an official race of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto circuit dispute an hour later than usual, at 3:00 pm, so as not to coincide with the time of the F-1 race in Azerbaijan.
While MotoGP tackles its fourth Grand Prix in just six weeks and begins its journey to the Old Continent in Jerez until mid-September, F1 will also have its fourth round in 2023 in Baku, but after a month off without racing.
The reference time for MotoGP is two o’clock in the afternoon, but they will have to delay an hour. The reason is that the time set for F1 races is 3:00 pm local time, but in central European time it is two hours lower than in Azerbaijan, 1:00 pm, which will be the time it starts at Spain. If the schedule is not changed, both appointments will overlap.
Not only will Sunday’s MotoGP be delayed, but Sunday’s entire schedule will start an hour later, the Moto3 race at 12 noon and the Moto2 race at 1:15 pm
Up to nine matches in 2023
In 2023 the F1 and MotoGP calendars will overlap with nine Grands Prix. This has happened between Melbourne and Termas de Río Hondo, but they are in different time zones. In addition to this time in Baku-Jerez, the other problems are Silverstone in Sokol on July 9 and Monza in Catalunya on September 3. The others are more or less different time zones: Montreal vs. Sachsenring on June 18; Suzuka vs. Buddha on September 24; Austin vs. Phillip Island on October 22, Mexico vs. Buriram on October 29 and the end party for both ‘Circuses’ Yas Marina vs. Cheste on November 26.
Another new one will be three official press conferences at the Media Day on Thursday, April 27. At 5:00 pm Marc Márquez was called, awaiting confirmation if he will return to Jerez after being absent in Argentina and Texas, along with the leader Marco Bezzecchi, the champion Pecco Bagnaia and the eventual winner Alex Rins. At 5:35 pm Maverick Viñales, Fabio Quartararo and Luca Marini will be present and at 6:00 pm Alex Márquez, Jorge Martín (who were the protagonists of the incident in Sunday’s race in Austin) and Enea Bastianini, another driver pending confirmation of his return after two low GGPP.
