The Bulgarian Dobromir Karamarinov was re-elected president of European athletics, for the next four years (2023-2027) at the 28th European Athletics Congress held this Saturday in Belgrade.
The three Vice-Presidents elected are Cherry Alexander (GBR), Jean Gracia (FRA) and Karin Grute Movin (SWE). For the first time there was a legal requirement that two representatives of each gender be elected to the combined offices of President and Vice President.
As a result, for the first time in the 53-year history of European athletics, there are two vice-presidents, Cherry Alexander and Karin Grute.
The 13 members of the Council were also elected, including Raúl Chapado, president of the Spanish Federation: Slobodan Brankovic (SRB), Frank Carreras (GIB), Raúl Chapado (ESP), Anne Farseth (NOR), Marton Gyulai (HUN), Tia Hellebaut (BEL), Anna Kirnova (SVK), Jürgen Kessing (GER), Stefano Mei (ITA), Gvantsa Mikeladze (GEO), Antti Philakovski (FIN), Erich Teigamägi (EST) and Aleksandra Vojneska-Zikova (MKD).
