The Diamond League begins the outdoor season in Doha with a calendar consisting of fourteen tests where the best athletes in the world will attend and which for the first time will end in the United States, at the Haywald Field stadium in Eugene hosting the 2022 World Cup.
For the twelfth time, the circuit will start in Doha (May 5). Then it will only stop on African territory with the Mohammed VI rally in Rabat (May 28) before heading to Europe, where it will have eight consecutive stages (Rome, Paris, Oslo, Lausanne, Stockholm, Chorzów, Monaco and London ) in the months of June and July.
After a break for the World Cup in Budapest (August 19-27) the competition will resume in Zurich before leaving for China, it will return to Europe with a stop in Brussels and finish in Eugene.
The main novelty in this year’s circuit, apart from the finish in Eugene, is the official inclusion of the Silesia meeting in Chorzów (Poland)., which last year entered the calendar due to the cancellations of Chinese tests due to Covid-19. Now, as Memorial Kamila Skolimowska, she will stay for five seasons by contract in the circuit.
Among the stars that will shine on the circuit are some of the winners of last season such as the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1,500 meters), American sprinter Grant Holloway (110 hurdles), the Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali (3,000 obstacles), the Swedish Armand Duplantis (pol), the Dutch Femke Bowl (400 hurdles), the Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas (triple jump) or the Kenyan Beatrice Chebet (5,000).
The Diamond League has the incentive of distributing around seven million euros in prizesthe highest number in terms of athletics competitions.
