Alexandrova, the first qualifying player to reach the semi-finals in Madrid since 2016

The Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova45 in the world and came from the previous stage, extended his magical week in the tournament of Madrid and qualified for the semifinals by beating the American Amanda Anisimova for 6-4 and 6-3.

Alexandrova gave a surprise in the first round by beating the tenth favorite, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko. The Russian then removed Spaniard Nuria Párrizas and then Czech Marie Bouzkova, 77, also from the former.
