He Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick Step) will once again wear the rainbow World Champion jersey this Wednesday in the fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia by intentionally missing ‘pink jersey’ on the fourth day ending at Lago Laceno.
“That’s the goal. We still have time to win back the pink jersey. Our goal is to give up the leadership position. I’m satisfied. We got through this phase well in busy conditions. The first 2 hours we did an average of 44 km/h, a very high speed,” said the 2022 World and Vuelta champion at the finish line.
Evenepoel, also leader of the youth classification, plans to use the rainbow leotard in the fifth stage.
“That’s good, because I won’t accept the white shirt”said.
