From the worst sign to the best loot for Alonso

Date:

Fernando Alonso arrived at Imola, circuit of great memories with the legendary fight with Michael Schumacher in 2005, with the best baggage in terms of points since the system was changed in 2010. In five races he has 75 points, with four podiums and third in the standings. When signing for Aston Martin in August no one thought that these results would be achieved.

Not even at the time of Ferrari managed to score as many in 2023. In fact, since 2007, in his first year in McLaren, who missed the podium four times in the first calendar appointments. With Maranello, the best baggage he achieved at the start of the championship was the 67 points of 2012. That year, however, he only got on the podium twice.

When the Spanish signing for Aston Martin, very few fans are excited about the new project. This is completely logical because in the middle of last year, those from Silverstone were ninth in the classification of manufacturers. Right now they are second with 102 points. Such drastic changes have not been seen since the jump from BrawnGP in 2009.

It should be noted that Fernando’s full podium finish is not far off. He remained at the gates in Baku squeezing until the end charles leclerc to return to the awards ceremony. Only now he did not become third.

Where does 33 end up?

alonso now looking to shine win #33. The most favorable circuits are in layouts where slow corners dominate and there are fewer straight lines to reduce the incredible top speed of Red Bull of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez. Monaco or Singapore are the Spanish marked in red on the calendar.

The best start in Alonso’s history was in 2006 when he took six victories in the first nine races with Renault. The remaining three finished in second place. How could it be otherwise, that year he ended up proclaiming himself a two-time champion. But of course he didn’t add that many points because before, fewer were awarded.
