What does it cost to be SAD?

Date:

He Official state newsletter (BOE) made official this Wednesday the minimum amount required for a club, both men’s and women’s, to become a Sports Public Limited Company (SAD).

In accordance with the provisions of article 3 of the Royal Decree of July 16, 1999 and updated in 2001, a Minimum Share Capital is set for companies limited to sports. According to it, it corresponds to Superior Sports Council (CSD), following a report from the respective professional league, calculate and publish 25% of the common costs incurred by clubs and sports corporations participating in their respective competitions.

According to this, the CSD set almost 5 million this minimum share capital. Specifically, the amount of four million nine hundred and thirty thousand two hundred and fifty nine euros and eighty cents (€4,930,259.80).

It should be noted that the new Sports Law implemented as of December 30, 2022, this change is not forced as it existed in the previous 1990 which prompted it to be done the year after a club’s promotion to professional football. But the makers, for corporate reasons, must start with this minimum capital.

Women’s club 5% of men

This Wednesday also the BOE announced it minimum capital for women’s clubs who want to make this change. Starting with professional league clubs that are not yet SAD. In this case, the share capital is €269,306.62. This means about 5% of what is due in men’s soccer.
