The FIFA presented this Wednesday at an event in Los Angeles (USA) the official brand and logo of World Cup 2026, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. “For the first time in history, an image of the trophy and the year of the tournament are represented, forming an innovative design language anchored in the emblem for 2026 and beyond,” FIFA explained in a statement.
“The image of the trophy and the year will allow for customization to reflect the uniqueness of each host country while building a recognizable brand structure for years to come,” he added. With Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, at the helm, the world’s highest soccer organization held a special event at the iconic Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, attended by football legends such as the former Brazilian striker ronaldo.
FIFA also presented the “WE ARE 26” campaign (“WE ARE 26”, in English) which aspires to “communities playing an integral role” in the next World Cup. “‘WE ARE 26’ is a rallying cry,” Infantino said. “This is a moment when three countries and an entire continent say together: ‘We are united as one to welcome the world and deliver the biggest, best and most inclusive World Cup in history,'” he added.
2026 will be the first World Cup to have 48 teams instead of the current 32 and the first time the biggest soccer event on the planet will be held in three countries.
The United States will take the majority of the tournament and have 11 of the 16 spots for the World Cup: Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami and New York/ New Jersey. Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey will be the venues in Mexico while, on the Canadian side, Vancouver and Toronto are the chosen cities.
