Australian Jason Day was the first leader of the Wells Fargo Championshipafter finishing the first day of competition, this Thursday, with a card of 63 shots, seven under par, ahead of the Americans Joel Dahmen (-6) and Matthew Wolff (-5).
At TPC Potomar at Avenel Farm, a Maryland club, Day had eight birdies on a bogey to lead Dahmen, who had seven birdies on a bogey, and Wolff, who had five birdies and no bogeys.
Along with Wolff, who is also -5, are English Aaron Rai and Callum Tarren, the American Denny McCarthy and the Frenchman Paul Barjon.
Sergio García delivered a card of 67 strokes, three under parwith two birdies, a bogey and a brilliant eagle on the fifteenth hole.
The same hole, on the other hand, ruined the excellent performance of Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas, who had a double bogey that ended him with 68 strokes (-2), after achieving four birdies.
The Wells Fargo Championship will run until next Sunday.
